Garden of Poetry

Learning Tang Poems

A quiet archive for exploring Tang poetry through pronunciation, recitation, script comparison, and calligraphy study.

Garden of Poetry is a quiet digital space devoted to learning and appreciating classical Chinese poetry, especially the poems of the Tang dynasty. The site presents each poem not only as literature but as a living practice of language—through pronunciation guides, recitation and memorization aids, word-level explanations, and examples of how classical phrases continue to echo in modern Chinese.

Alongside the text, the project explores the visual culture of poetry through calligraphy comparisons, allowing readers to see how the same poem takes on different rhythm and character in the hands of different calligraphers. The goal is simple: to create a calm place where poetry can be read slowly, spoken aloud, remembered, and enjoyed.

The initial release features a small selection of poems by Li Bai, Wang Wei, Du Fu, and Wang Zhihuan, with more poets and learning materials to be added over time.
